Weekend Fun

Another wonderful weekend spent with the family. Thursday started with drinks for Claudia's birthday with the girls...and baby Logan. Friday night was Gia's singing recital. She did such a great job. The boys were so excited to watch her and JR and I were VERY impressed with her talents. Saturday night, we rode our bikes to Speedway with friends - always fun. Sunday we rode our bikes to the Fish Fry Carnival. Hudson's longest ride ever! Cannon asleep. I ended the weekend watching beautiful baby Riley Eloise making her entrance into this world. An amazing night, something I will never forget.

Big Weekend

It seems that all of our weekends have been packed, busy and fun lately and this past weekend was no exception. Cannon got a haircut on Friday after school and despite me thinking he would skip his nap that day, he surprised me by falling asleep mid-cut. I had to hold his face so the lady could finish up the back.
Saturday was Hudson's last baseball game. He almost caught a pop fly and got the game ball too!
Cannon catching a ride after the game.
Cannon practiced riding with no training wheels.
And had batting practice.
Cannon was hitting so good!
On Sunday, Hudson went to a birthday party at the BMX bike track in Orange.
He loved it. JR thinks he found his calling. Great....
... because this was the result:
That didnt stop us from going to the local school carnival on Sunday afternoon.
Ring toss.
Pop the balloon!
Win a goldfish! We forgot ours there.
Ride the jetski.
The bear. We told Hudson to hold onto Cannon so this is what most rides looked like (choke hold).
Cannon wanted to do the big slide, but he didnt make the height requirement.
Someone had to go with him.
They had so much fun.
Arms up!
Laughing.
Great weekend!

Sleep

A lot of things that happen with Cannon I can expect and be prepared for because it happened with Hudson. But lately, Cannon is going through some sleep issues that we never experienced with Hudson. Hudson stopped napping before Cannon was born. It was ALWAYS a fight to get him to nap and soon became easier for him to just not nap. Hudson was 18 months old when he stopped napping. Cannon is almost three and a half and still naps daily. He literally has trouble staying awake. There have been a few days when he fights it and stays awake without a nap but if we have to go anywhere in the afternoon, he will fall asleep in the car. A couple times in the last month, he has fallen asleep after 5pm on our way to dinner. Not fun. A 5pm nap means child wide awake at 11pm: (
But he is still holding on to that nap... even falling asleep sitting up in the movie chair while watching the very loud movie Avengers (I held him after to keep him from tipping - and to snuggle).
And the other night, JR and I were downstairs watching tv when it was finally silent upstairs. We thought he'd finally fallen asleep. Only to walk upstairs an hour later to find him reading books in our bed!
And last night, he was fighting us again... And when we went upstairs, this is what we found.
What is going on? Sleeping in the hallway. None of this ever happened with Hudson. I figure it is just a stage he is going through. Probably going to drop the nap soon... but it looks like it will be late nights for us until then.

Tanaka Farms

We love Tanaka Farms! We usually go a couple times a month and right now the boys love it because it is strawberry season! This week my Grandma came with us and while the boys picked some strawberries, we shopped for some fresh produce.
They ate their whole basket before we even left!
