Hudson Says

Me: Hudson, when you stop crying I will put your new movie in.
Hudson: But mommy, I will stop crying when you put the movie in.

Me to Hudson: Are you going to have kids one day?
Hudson: Yes. I am going to have 3. A boy, a girl, a boy and then another girl, so I mean I am going to have 4 kids.
Me and JR: Wow! That's a lot of kids.
Hudson: Maybe I will have 5 and you will babysit them.
Me: I would love to babysit your kids.
Hudson: Yes, you can babysit while I go to the grocery store. And if they fall and hurt their arms you have to take them to the hospital. Yeah, I am going to have 5.

Hudson: Look mom! It's just like a beer!

Hudson: Mom, there's a pterosaur on the back of this money!

Nightmare

Cannon has been defining the term "terrible two's" lately. It has been really hard. He is stubborn, knows what he wants and isn't always great at communicating it. He is impossible to bargain with or bribe and does not understand the concept of "wait". I don't remember this with Hudson. But Hudson wasn't also competing with a sibling for attention or what he wanted to do. For example, the other day we were playing outside when Hudson had to go to the bathroom, not pee. I grabbed Cannon and we all ran inside. Of course. I couldn't leave Cannon outside. Cannon had a meltdown. He stayed by the door kicking and screaming while I raced to the bathroom with Hudson. When Hudson was little, he didn't have to compromise or end an activity early if he didn't want to. So I feel for Cannon and understand (a little) but he has been a little nightmare recently. He has had me question what I am doing at home with them. I feel frustrated easily, upset, like I am getting no where with them. It has been hard, to say the least.

Then the other day, we were playing outside and Hudson fell while playing down the street. Cannon immediately took off sprinting toward him yelling "Hudson it's ok. I'm coming!" When he got to a crying Hudson, Cannon put his arm around him and kissed his bleeding knee. And for a moment, I remembered why I stay home. I would never have seen that if I werent at home with them. I smiled and made it through another day...

Dinosaur Protection

It's no secret that Hudson is obsessed with dinosaurs. Awhile back at bedtime, he said he was scared of the dark. I think it was one of his million creative excuses he uses to stay up, come downstairs and see us again. He didnt seem that scared. But when I went in there after he'd finally fallen asleep, I saw his dinosaurs set up. Some faced underneath the bed. Some in bed with him. Some next to the little side table with his water. One on the headboard. Some at the door. "For protection" he told me the next morning.

Sweetest Boy

I had a meeting with Hudson's teacher where she and her helper told me that Hudson is the sweetest boy ever. I looked at them with a face that said "Are we talking about the same kid?" Don't get me wrong, I know Hudson is sweet. But I didn't know it came off at school when he spends his time growling like a dinosaur and running on the playground.

We have our moments with Hudson and our issues, but he really is a sweet and loving boy.

Hudson Turns Four

We spent the weekend at the River celebrating Hudson's 4th birthday. We brought Gia with us and the kids were so good and had a great time.

The drive out to the river.

Tank top crew.

Happy Birthday Hudson!

Little brother leaning in to blow out candle.

The four year old wakes up and wants to fish.

Kurty catching (and releasing) a fish!

Keeping busy with art.

And fishing.

And rocks.

River time.

Relaxing together after a day on the river.

So tired after a long day.

His birthday cake (that he made). Happy Birthday, Hudson! We love you forever and always and you will always be my baby boy!

Hudson's Last Day Being 3

I cannot believe that today is my baby's last day being 3 year's old. My mind cannot get over the fact that, in a few hours, he will not be three anymore. Four is not a baby at all. Four is school aged. Four is old. My baby is going to be four tomorrow. My baby is not a baby anymore. He is a kid. I am not handling it well. And Hudson is beyond thrilled and excited to get "bigger."
