A Walk in the Back Bay

We have been bike riding in the back bay since Cannon is a two-wheeling machine but recently we went for a walk in the back bay. It is beautiful where we live and I am so happy we have been utilizing it recently.

I love this picture and the fact that Hudson isnt too big to hold our hand. I dread the day he doesnt want to hold our hand!

Busy Weekend

Another busy and fun weekend...

Sunday was St Patrick's day so the kids made leprechaun traps last week. Hudson set his out at school so he wont find out if he caught anything until school today.

On Sunday the boys went to pick vegetables at Auntie Shelley's and make gingerbread cookies. JR and I went golfing while they were over there.

Hudson asked me to trace his body on some large paper that he found. He then felt his bones and drew them in! Cannon did the same but colored his body in.

Saturday night we went over to a friend's house and the boys all made snakes out of easter eggs.

More sports for Saturday... lots of fun! This is how full our car was for the game! You'd think we were going out of town for a week with all that stuff!

Spring Sports

Sports have started up again in our house. This season Cannon is playing soccer and Hudson is playing baseball. It keeps us extra busy but the boys love it!

Cannon had his first game this past weekend and it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Hudson, being born in April, didnt make the age cut off to play spring soccer when we was four years old. But Cannon does - and they are so cute. They are so little and he was so into it that the parents were absolutely cracking up laughing at the whole thing. He told me he "thinks he scored 5 goals." I think it was 3 or 4 but it doesnt matter. He L-O-V-E-S it and is so good out there. Fun little team with all his buddies from school and his cousin Rowen and JR is assistant coach!

Hudson had pictures this past weekend for his team, the Padres. JR is coaching and I am team mom so we are all involved!

Vegas - Lady Gaga

A few weeks ago my parents had tickets to Lady Gaga in Vegas. It was such a fun and relaxing weekend and reminds me of how much I love Vegas -- and I dont even gamble...

Cannon and Rowen Day

Last Friday after Gymnastics, Rowen and Cannon wanted to eat at Rain Forest Cafe. When we got to the mall, we saw the Easter Bunny, with no line. I asked the boys if they wanted to take a picture and they both said NO. I told them, that if they take a picture with the Easter Bunny and smile, their eggs will be filled with Candy at Easter. They asked what the eggs will be filled with if they dont take the picture. I told them rocks.

They both agreed to take the picture. And smile.

Teeth

The day before Valentine's Day, Cannon fell at the park with my parents. He was walking up some stairs, holding onto both rails with his hands, and he slipped on sandy steps, landing right on his top teeth - hitting the metal stair. Hands did not break his fall - his teeth did. At first my parents thought he just had a fat lip - because his top teeth went into his bottom lip.

Then a few minutes later, Cannon said "Grandma, my tooth is loose."

They looked inside and saw this:

We called the dentist and went in right away. He has 4 loose teeth. The root is broken on the right front tooth and the left front tooth is already discolored. The right front tooth is VERY loose. VERY VERY loose. I am shocked it hasnt come out. The dentist wants to wait (and see us weekly) and if the gums tighten and we can keep some/all the teeth than great (teeth and speech go hand in hand at this age, so if he can keep them all in even for a little bit, it is success)!

He stayed home with me the next day (Valentine's day) because he couldnt eat anything at his class party anyways.

The gum line got really black and bruised.

But a few days later, everything looked so much better.

My tough little guy was never in pain. I think it hurts me more than him. He hasnt been bothered at all and he has found a way to eat despite the loose teeth. The good news is that the permanent teeth were not impacted by the fall.

Snakes

Hudson's 6th Birthday is coming up and he said "All I want is a pet snake. I won't like anything else you get me because I all I really want is a snake." There is no way he is getting a snake. I cannot. There is no way. First we told him that snakes dont want to live in cages. Then we told him he would have to feed the snake mice and that would be sad. Then I told him I wouldnt feed it or clean the cage or hold it or catch it if it got out. I told him he had to do everything if we got one. And we still are not getting one - I was just trying to scare him out of wanting one.

So my aunt and I took the boys to Prehistoric Pets in HB to see how they would be. And because they have been bugging me like crazy about going there.

Sure enough, a snake was out and the boys didnt hesitate. Neither was scared one bit. Neither flinched or debated. They held the snake the right way, and neither was afraid when the snake's face got close, or when it slithered around their necks or legs. They expertly maneuvered the snake around and did great. I felt like I had snakes crawling on me all day.

I dont want to impose my fears on the boys so I tried to remain calm. But I didnt even touch it. And I made them wash their hands and use sanitizer like a million times. And I brough wipes.

I think my plan backfired. I had hoped he would be scared to hold it. Or maybe drop it if it moved toward him. But no, I think he wants a snake even more now.

Feeding live worms to turtles.

Cannon held the snake for other kids that wanted to touch it but were too afraid to hold it themselves.

Pyton around the neck.

Doesnt look scared at all.

Biggest snake in captivity (350 pounds).

Gator.

Gator.

He doesnt look very scared to me!

So happy!
