Thanksgiving

Cannon opened some presents on his birthday and then we took off for the river on Thanksgiving Day.

We told him his "other present" was going to be there.... He was so excited.

Lots of fun in the dirt.

Dork.

Boys working on boy things.

Bonfire.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Build-A-Bear

Hudson and I took him to Build a Bear last week, a pre-birthday present. It was our first time going there. Wow - I had no idea. The boys got an animal but we saved clothes and all the other stuff for another time.

Cannon named his Juicy:

Hudson named his Noodle:

They put the hearts inside and watched them get stuffed:

They gave them a bath:

Then got their homes:

It was a fun day! Happy Birthday Cannon!

Three

Cannon is three today. I almost have no words for it. He talks and acts like a three year old but the little guy is barely 26 pounds.

The last few months of Cannon being a two year old have been challenging. He is more determined and stubborn than any adult I know. Looking back, I sort of laugh remembering the tantrums. At the time though, I remember wanting to cry. Lately, Cannon has been telling me "I don't care" when I am trying to get him to do something (or bribe him).

"Cannon, you have to go to bed because tomorrow you get to bring cupcakes to your class for your birthday." He responded with, "I don't care about cupcakes". I said, "Oh you don't care? Then I can give the cupcakes to Daddy to take to work." And he said, "That's fine, because I don't care about cupcakes."

Or when I say "We can go to the library after your nap." He responded with "If we go to the library first, then I will nap."

As much as I want him to grow up just to grow out of this current stage, I know one day I will be kicking myself for wishing these days (tantrums) to pass. The fact that he is three today is mind blowing and a good reminder of how fast things already go. I don't need to wish them any faster. I need to pause and enjoy them. Like we did this morning, when we all got in our bed and sang Happy Birthday to our Little Cannon. We "love you so many times".

What Hudson and Cannon Say

Hudson: Moooooom, Cannon is going to eat all the chips!
Me: Cannon cannot eat that entire bag of chips. It's too big. If he eats all those chips he will turn into a chip.
Hudson: Haha! Did you hear that Cannon? If you eat all those chips, you are going to turn into a chip. And then I will eat you.

I whispered in Hudson's ear: Hudson, you look so big and handsome in those jeans you are wearing!
Hudson whispers back in my ear: Thanks mommy. You look..... seventy-two..... or seventy-one.

I had to take a check into the kids school one day when they did not have school.
So I said to them in the car: I have to run inside school today to take a check in.
When I got back in, Cannon said: Did you give my teacher a chicken?
I laughed because I did say "Check in" and it sounds a lot like "Chicken".

Cannon: Mom, did you know that Mahalo means Thank You in spanish?
Me: you mean, hawaiian?
Cannon: No, mahalo.

Hudson: Mooooom! I know what to get Grandpa for Christmas! I am going to toot in a bag and wrap it up, and then when Grandpa opens it up, it will be stinky!

Almost Three

Cannon is almost three. And I thought I was ready for it. I was excited about it. Until I saw these adorable photos (courtesy of our neighbor!). He looks so big and so old and it reminds me how fast they are both growing up. This was just a year ago and he looks like a baby in those pictures!

Thank goodness I can still easily pick him up and carry him (especially when I am pitching to Hudson) so it feels like he still a baby sometimes.
