Beachcombers

We had so much fun at Beachcombers Restaurant this weekend. What a great little place to go. The kids loved the beach part more than they loved the 'sit down and eat part' but we all still had a great time and can't wait to go back again.

We looked like tourists at the beach because the bigger kids ended up running around the beach in their underwear. It was late in the afternoon and I didn't think we'd be on the beach that long before dinner. O'well. They had fun and we were smart enough to bring extra clothes.

Prehistoric Pets

Why oh why did I take the boys back to Prehistoric Pets??!!? My mistake started when I asked Hudson where he wanted to go today. He immediately said 'Prehistoric Pets' (well, not really. He said "the place with snakes and turtles where we can feed them"). Just our luck that during this visit one of the employees was in a sharing mood. He actually got a lot of the creatures OUT of their confinement and offered them up for touching, holding, and just cruising around the store. I had to constantly look behind me to make sure nothing was there (just look how big some of these things are!). And all afternoon it felt like bugs and lizards were on my back and in my hair. I tried my hardest to put a good face on though. I dont want to pass my fears onto the boys. And as you can see from the pictures, Hudson has picked up more of my dislike of these reptiles than Cannon.

Regardless of my feelings towards the stuff in this store, I had to admit that it was pretty amazing for the boys to see. And as much as I hate to say it, it was probably not our last trip to Prehistoric Pets.

~We started out just looking at the tourtoises from a good distance, behind a wall.

~More...but check the large monitor in the back by the window sill. His Name is Brando.

~Large boa.

~Iguana.

~Another monitor.

~Then they brought Big Red out.

~And a little baby turtle.

~And some kind of gecko or lizard...

~It jumped to Cannon's shoulder.

~And then they brought out Snowflake.

~And then I wanted to leave. But Brando was in the way...

~ He was just cruising the store. Thank goodness he was slow....at least he was acting slow. The boys didnt seem bothered though - not nearly as bothered as me.

The boys also got to watch snakes eat mice, a scorpion crawl around, they got to feed the turtles live worms and the tortoises lettuce. Everyone got a good cleaning when we got home.

Fourth

The kids spent the night at my parents on Saturday and woke up early to go to the HB Parade the next morning. They had a ton of fun while JR and I went and hung out with some friends. In the afternoon our neighbors had a little potluck and after putting Cannon to bed, Hudson got to stay up and see the fireworks.

Thirty-Two

My thirty second birthday was last week and despite the fact that I am now "in my thirties" and it is starting to sound older, I am quite happy about it. We had a great weekend at the Spectrum for the train and carousel, some swimming, and a BBQ at my parents. Bring on the mid-thiries... I am ready.

Toy Story Mania

My kids love Toy Story. We have been busy reading Toy Story books and watching Toy Story 1 and 2 in an anticipation of Toy Story 3. Hudson is Buzz Lightyear and Cannon is Woody (according to Hudson) and Hudson wants to wear his Toy Story shirts and shoes all the time. Funny how we have gone from Thomas the Train to Disney's Cars (still a fav) and now Toy Story. Hudson has seen Toy Story 3 twice already (once with my mom and once with me) and while he wanted to leave a few times during the scary parts, he loved it. I am sure we will go again! We arent all that sure that Cannon will sit through it yet. Maybe next time.
