Bounce

It is hard to get a good picture

of three little kids

when they just want to bounce.

At least they are all facing forward in this one:

My New Obsession

My new obsession is Michael's. The arts and crafts supply store. My most recent finds involve paint, string and masks.

Painting.

Working with tape.

String. Cannon made a cereal necklace with his string.

Hudson hung all of his dinosaurs.

Masks. They painted and glued feathers on their masks. Hudson made two. And Cannon covered his eye holes with feathers.

Beachcomber

We love this place. Went there last weekend and the wait was 2+ hours for dinner. But we knew that and got there at 230 so the kids could play on the beach for a couple hours before dinner.

Perfect and beautiful day.

So Big

Both the boys are getting so big in my eyes. And I see them everyday. They had their hats on the other day and they both looked so old.

Cannon is still crazy.

And Hudson is for hire. I guess he has the head-thrown-back-and-laugh pose down.

And even though they are getting bigger, they are both still my little boys.... evident here and here:

"I Want My Mommy"

Recently Cannon hasn't been sleeping well. Not that he was sleeping great for a long time or anything. But he was doing better than the first two years of his life. And then a week or so ago, he started waking up. Three times a night. And still getting up at the crack of dawn. What happened? We aren't sure. But there was a night of this:

We don't sleep with our kids very often. Less than a handful of times between the both of them. But this night we were tired and we were sick of getting up. Cannon did much better than Hudson ever did in our bed with us. When Hudson slept with us, on that rare occasion, he would be ALL over the place. That kid must do circles in his sleep making it so hard to sleep next to him. But Cannon did pretty well once he finally fell asleep.

Anyways, a few days ago, I asked JR to put Cannon down. Part of the routine is for me to put him down, read him a book, etc. but because he wasn't sleeping well, I wanted to change up the routine and see what happened. And what do you know, he slept through the night. So JR put him down the next couple nights and he continued to sleep through the night.

And then last night, JR was at a hockey game. So I put Cannon down. And he got up three times. JR went in there and boy was he screaming when he saw it was JR and not me. He was screaming, "I want my mommy."

Boys and their mommies. He wants me more than he wants sleep. And I just think that is a boy thing (or my boys' thing). And I guess I should love it since I know he won't be wanting me forever. But boy am I starting to enjoy my sleep after all these years of sleeplessness.

Super Bowl Weekend

We had such a nice and relaxing weekend in Big Bear with the Keus Family. The kids got along great and the adults had some fun too.

The big kids.

Pine cone art.

The jacuzzi.

Ella and Cannon.

Harper and Hudson, girlfriend and boyfriend.

Adorable little Remi was such a good little baby on the trip.

Meltdown

Hudson had his first major public meltdown this week. Of course he has had his not-so-great moments in public. But. This. Was. Different.

At first, I couldn't get him in the store because he didn't like the shopping cart Cannon picked out for us. Then once I finally got him in, he continued to scream and pull things off the shelves and act like a possessed crazy man. So much so that I tried to leave and then I couldn't get him out of the store. It resulted in me carrying Cannon, the 4 large dinosaurs I let them bring in, my purse, and dragging Hudson behind me all the way to the car. Dragging. Once we got to the car I couldn't let either of the boys go. I knew Hudson wanted to go back in the store at that point and I feared a mad dash in the street if I let him go. And even though Cannon was being good, he's still too little to be trusted in the street for even a moment. So I dropped the dinosaurs, pinned Cannon with my knees against the car, put Hudson in the car (didnt even bother trying to buckle him yet - that would have been impossible given how much he was fighting me), then closed the door and took Cannon to the other side.

I was so embarrassed as I tried to remain calm but really, I had no idea what to do. He was beyond the point of listening and beyond the point of being able to calm down, even if he wanted to. And it has really traumatized me for our outings since then.

Since then, I had a long talk with Hudson before going into another store that went something like this:

Me: Hudson, we do not want to have another meltdown in this store, ok? We need to get stuff for dinner, and we are all going to be really big and calm and shop quickly and then go home. No meltdowns.

Hudson: Ok mommy, I wont have a meltdown. I dont want to have another meltdown.

Me: That's good because no one is happy when you have a meltdown. You aren't happy when you have a meltdown and I'm not happy when you have a meltdown.

Then, we walked into the store and Hudson said: Mommy, what's a meltdown?

Keepin' Busy

We have been busy keeping busy and now January is over. That was fast. We were busy with tons of stuff... just day to day things to keep the boys busy and myself sane.

Like baking. The boys love baking and we do it a lot so that Cannon can have a lot of products that normally he wouldnt be able to with his allergies.

And dressing up. We went to the store and the boys wanted to stay in their costumes.

Going to SkyHigh. Cannon waiting with the big kids is so funny. Everyone there gets a kick out of how little and crazy he is. And Hudson has learned to do a flip into the foam pit.

The Aquarium.

A ton of trips to the library and the book store (probably their favorite places to go).

And lots of MyGym. Can you find both boys?

We even went to Chuck E. Cheese because I had extra coins from a birthday party.

More beach days.

A ton of art projects.

Fro-Yo visits.

Lots of kisses.

And of course, a ton of brother love and happiness.
