Mommy's First Night Away
My first night away from the little guy went surprisingly well and better than I expected. It was hard to leave Hudson, even though it was for less than 24 hours, but I was excited to go to Lauren's Bachelorette Party! I knew I was going to miss him but I was mainly worried about him not taking a bottle. He has pretty much refused to eat from a bottle lately (and he was never that keen on it to begin with) so I thought he would be hungry and fussy the entire time I was gone. Luckily, my aunt figured out that Hudson just likes his milk really warm.... and so he ate fine. In fact, he ate too well - JR had to call me early on Saturday morning to tell me that he was running out of milk!
The ride home was a little harder. Once I got in the car, I just wanted to get home as fast as I could. And while I did miss Hudson, it was great to be with Lauren and friends, drink margaritas out of penis straws and get some sleep (even though I spent most of the time away pumping)!

4 Month Check Up
Hudson had his four month check up today! Today he weighed in at 15 pounds 9 ounces. He is in the 70% for weight. And he was 25.5 inches long which puts him in the 75% for height. I don't think the percentiles really matter but they told me, so I am writing them here.
Those people who thought Hudson would be bigger than Gianna by June and/or July lost the bet! She is still a little bigger!

What a Difference a Year Makes
A year ago today I was sitting for the first day of the Bar Exam... I was one month pregnant without knowing it and my biggest concern was getting through the three day test! I stayed with my friend Lauren in San Diego and this photo is us the morning of the exam with our clear zip lock bags (the only thing permitted into the test along with out laptops). I get anxious just looking at this photo and thinking back to the stress, pressure and crazyness of that test...

And now here are some photos of my life today. Exactly one year later, I took my three month old son to the aquarium.... Which by the way, Hudson LOVED it there!!!

Big Boy
He is getting so big and old! I think he looks a lot like JR and my brother Ryan (which is what the little boy in my dream looked like before Hudson was born!). Though my mom says he looks like my brother Aaron did when Aaron was a baby. And JR's sister thinks he looks a lot like her son (my nephew) Austin. He is definitely a Gale/Reynolds!

Laughing Himself to Sleep
Hudson is getting even better at going to sleep at night. We have definitely established a routine which involves diaper changing, pajamas, feeding, burping, a little rocking and then setting him down. The other night, when I set him down in his crib, he started laughing... I immediately thought that we had a long night ahead of us. Since he was laughing I decided to leave the dark room and see what happened -- he obviously wasnt upset. I brought the monitor downstairs and within 15 minutes he put himself to sleep. This may seem easy and simple but for a baby with imperfect sleeping habits, this is HUGE. By the way, the monitor is amazing...

Back to work...
A few weeks ago, I started doing some work for the law firm that I used to work for as full time Associate. I am mainly doing research and projects from the house and I have been surprised at how difficult it is to actually 1- think like an adult, and 2- get something done. This morning it took me about an hour and a half to get out of the house in order to go into the office. I used to be one of those people that could be showered, dressed and out the door in under a half hour. Boy are those days gone. I had to shower and get ready, with Hudson being momentarily entertained outside the shower by his Baby Einstein mat. Then I had to get Hudson dressed, fed, changed, and then I had to pump so that he could eat when I was gone, and then get all his 'stuff' ready for my Aunt, who was watching him. Then when I got to work, all I could think about was how I HOPED he would take a bottle from my Aunt (since he has recently REFUSED to eat from a bottle-- making it rather difficult for me to leave him for more than 2 hours). Luckily, he was really good and really happy for my Aunt, even though he didnt take a bottle!!

Teething!?!?!?
The little guy has been sleeping great at night. We even got one night where he slept 9 hours straight... it freaked me out - I was up all night checking on him, especially because he was in a really deep sleep where he didnt move once all night. During the last couple days however, he seemed a little irritated. He kept sticking his fist in his mouth and gnawing on it and itching his face. I think that maybe he is starting to teeth. I cant feel anything in his gums yet, but he loved the teething rings I tried on his gums. The first green and yellow ring is frozen...

...and the second blue and yellow one vibrates against his gums.

Big Boy Stroller
Hudson is now strong enough to go in the stroller without the carseat. He holds his head up really well, but we still keep the seat reclined a little so he can relax. Now I get to use my high-tech jogger stroller that has speakers for my ipod. JR, Hudson, the dogs and I have gone for runs the last two mornings!
