Gone Fishing

The boys are both obsessed with fishing. So I wish I could say my lack of posting has been because we were all Gone Fishing... but that is not the case. Though the boys have been doing some serious fishing... We went to the river before school started and all the boys had fun!

Toothless

Cannon finally lost his two front teeth after his fall back in February. An abscess had formed and both front teeth needed to be removed. I was a little worried about his speech being affected but Cannon was THRILLED. Actually, thrilled might be an understatement. He was so excited to beat Hudson to tooth fairy.

We had to go to an oral surgeon because the root was broken and they wanted to make sure the pieces were all taken out. At the pre-op, the surgeon said he wanted to put Cannon under for the procedure because of his age. I listened and then told him my reasons for NOT wanting to put him under:

1. he wants them out and he isnt going to fight you (some kids punch and kick the dentist)
2. he is not in pain (even when he just hit his teeth, they asked if he was in pain and he said NO).
3. he just had an allergic reaction to a medicine that landed us in the ER and if I dont HAVE to give him something new I dont want to.
4. the teeth are loose and should just come right out, easy. (I was WRONG on this one).

The dentist agreed to try the procedure without general anesthetic but he was not so sure it was going to work out.

However, Mr. Cannon was amazing. He didnt move, he didnt make a peep. And the procedure was WAY CRAZIER than I had anticipated. Those teeth did not come out easy. And the screw driver or whatever they use, was yanking away at the teeth that had gotten stronger in those gums.

Afterward the dentist told me he was shocked that Cannon didnt move during the entire thing. He didnt cry, or try to talk or try to move. He told us that Cannon was better than most adult patients. He couldnt believe it. When Cannon was done, he asked if he was bleeding and then jumped down and ran to get a toy. It was crazy.

Right after.

Right after.

The teeth to go.

I bought Tylenol in case he was in some pain after the procedure. Given the amount of yanking I saw to get the teeth out, I assumed he would be hurting pretty bad.

He never took the Tylenol. At one point a couple hours after, he said his teeth were starting to hurt. I told him to come inside to get some medicine and he ran off. Guess it didnt hurt that bad.

The tooth fairy came that night, of course. And Cannon was so excited. I was tempted to give him Tylenol before bed in case he had some pain when he went to sleep but I decided against it. At 500am, he woke up SCREAMING. I ran in there because I thought his teeth were really hurting him. NOPE. He was screaming because he woke up and there was nothing under his pillow. He was mad at the tooth fairy.... until he saw the basket she left next his bed... Crazy kid.

Because he is using Hudson's tooth holder, Hudson tried to convince Cannon to put the teeth under Hudson's pillow for the night. Ummm, no way, Hudson. Here is Cannon placing the teeth under his own pillow.

Oh and his speech is totally normal. The surgeon had told me that speech has more to do with bone structure than teeth and he was right in Cannon's case.

Crazy cousins with no teeth.

JW Marriot

Last weekend we took the electric car to Palm Springs. We needed a hotel with electric hook ups, so we stayed at the JW Marriot. It was great!

Dinner at a benihana style restaurant.

They can still use fire!

Night swimming because everyone napped after day swimming!

A little bit of this, a little bit of that

Because I have been so inconsistent lately about posting, I wanted to put a few pictures that I have been saving on my camera up here on the blog. A little bit of this, and that.

We took the boys to an Angel game a few weeks ago. We looked down and there was a ball that one of the players threw up to us. Hudson grabbed it. After some begging and bothering (we were behind the Astros dugout), the Astros tossed a ball to Cannon.

Hudson had a Wild West Day at school. He had a performance and a fun day of activities at school.

Cannon waiting patiently on Daddy's feet for the performance.

Sitting in their seats in the back of the new electric car.

Cousin trying it out too. Too bad there's only two jump seats back there!

An evening at the pizza parlor. I brought carrots and broccoli and passed out a quarted for every piece they ate.

Bath time.

Beard time.
