8 Weeks old and Putting Toys in his Mouth....

Hudson's Favorite Toy

Hudson's favorite time of the day right now is his morning playtime. He L-O-V-E-S his Baby Einstein Activity Mat and laughs and smiles... and then cries when I pick him up and take him away from it...

Big Cousins

It is crazy to think that Hudson will be as big as Cousins Zachary and Austin someday soon!!

The Best Photo Ever

I Have Two Witnesses

Last night my Aunt Rose and my cousin Tracy were here and we put Hudson on his belly for some Tummy Time. We were just going to watch him hold up his head and so what he did next was amazing... He started scooting across the blanket. He was literally using his legs and arms and moved about 2 feet. No Joke. I had two witnesses. We didnt cheat and didnt help him - he did it ALL on his own. I swear. He was so cute and so proud of himself and so exhausted after. In fact, in the middle of crawling he lay flattened on the blanket without moving he was so tired. Then he picked his head up and crawled a little more. I took a couple pictures and then the stupid camera said "Empty Battery." I couldnt believe my camera died at a time like this....

I Am Officially Crazy for Smiles

A couple days ago Hudson was in the swing and found his eyes (he was looking at the animals on his swing's mobile), he found his hand (he was simultaneously sucking on his hand), and he found his voice (when he wasnt sucking, he was cooing away). It is amazing. He is smiling and laughing all the time... and now that we are getting sleep I cannot stop thinking about how much I love being a mother and how I want a ton more kids. I know.... I am officially crazy! I do NOT want more kids now -- but I think it is a little crazy that I am even able to consider more kids at all right now.

It Happened Again...

Hudson slept again last night -- on his own in the swing!! Yeah! He was swaddled tightly and slept from 1045 until 5am and then again until 730! You might wonder why he slept in a swing but believe me -- this is major progress!! JR and I watched The Happiest Baby on the Block dvd and it suggested putting those babies that love to sleep in your arms or on you in a swing because the motion reminds them of being held. Then you gradually slow the swing to a stop position over the next few weeks and then transition into a crib after that. Anyways -- it worked and we are thrilled and getting some sleep ourselves. Plus, Hudson is such a happier baby because he is well rested and wakes up smiling and feeling great!

A Whole New Person

Hudson slept for 6 hours straight last night... and I woke up feeling like a new person. Now of course I did not sleep for six hours straight. I woke up multiple times when my milk came in and to check on him and when he made a noise, But to not have to get up was fabulous!! Even better, after I did get up to feed him - He went BACK to sleep! This is all such a huge improvement because he slept the six hours on his own (as opposed to on/near/with us).

1st Mother's Day

Hudson, JR and even the dogs did a great job making my first mother's day special... I still cannot believe I am a mommy!

Cousins First Play-Date

For those of you out there voting on when Hudson will be as big as Gianna, you should know that they are now wearing the same diaper size (Swaddlers 1 - Yes, Hudson is already out of the newborn size!). Now granted, they are a little big on Hudson and a little small on Gianna, but still....

One-Handedness and the Chin

As I was walking around the house this evening cooking dinner and holding Hudson, I realized that what once took two hands to perform now gets done with one... and the occasional help from a foot. I have picked up many a thing in the past few weeks with my toes because my hands were full.

This morning was also a good morning. For some reason I kissed Hudson on the chin (not new, I bug the kid every second by covering him with constant kisses), but this time he broke out into a huge smile. So I did it again... and again... and again, and got a huge smile each time. This went on for about 20 minutes until he got hungry. I will of course keep trying this...

Naked Baby

A Fine Line.

I have realized that there is a fine line between waiting too long to change a diaper and changing a diaper too quickly. And I have learned the hard way. In fact, this week, Hudson has peed on me three times and pooped on me once. In his defense, two of the three pee-pee incidents were done while taking naked photos of him, so I shouldnt be surprised.
Last night around 7pm, JR was holding Hudson and we heard Hudson poop. I immediately changed his diaper because lately the poop has been going up his back (and all over his clothes). Despite changing him immediately, he still had poop all up his back and I had to just stick him into the tub.
Again at 230 in the morning, I heard Hudson poop again. I jumped up to change him, hoping to save some clothes and keep the poop from going up his back. As I pulled the diaper down and reached for some wipes, Hudson shot poop ALL OVER ME. From my chest down to my thighs. I guess he wasnt done yet. Good thing is, I saved his clothes (nothing got on his clothes and nothing even got on the changing table) but it did get all over me.

Daddy and Hud

Hudson can already hold up his head really well... In fact, he has been holding up his head for awhile now. He also rolled over last week (from stomach to back). He is really strong!

My Little Monkey

One Month Old

Hudson is one month old today... where did the time go? My life now in no way resembles my old life. I love being a mom and wouldnt change or trust anyone else with this position. But still, my life is completely different from before. For example, on Tuesday, I didnt make it downstairs until 1pm. I just couldnt do it. Hudson wanted to eat, then bathe him, then change him, then try to get a shower myself... And yesterday, I didnt eat until 3pm. Just couldnt do it... I dont know where the time goes...

He is growing so fast and is so big and so much more aware each day. As a mommy I am lucky not to miss a single thing and I am thankful for that.
